Passive Fire Protection Technicians

Established over 15 years, Abbey Fire & Security is the leading accredited fire protection provider for many businesses and organisations all over East Anglia. Due to continued growth, our passive fire protection division (Abbey Fire Doors) has an opportunity available for an experienced Technician to join our expanding team and make your mark at an exciting time of planned expansion.

About the Role:

Operating throughout East Anglia and covering a wide range of sectors from education and care to social and commercial property, the successful candidate will work as a vital part of our site team to deliver exceptional passive fire protection services. This hands-on role requires a high level of technical proficiency, a thorough understanding of fire safety regulations, and a passion for ensuring the highest standards of life safety for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and remediation of fire-stopping seals to service penetrations
  • Application of fire-rated mortars, batts, and intumescent mastics
  • Installation and maintenance of fire-resisting partitions and cavity barriers
  • Accurate recording of completed works via our digital reporting software
  • Ensuring all installations are carried out in strict accordance with manufacturer specifications and building regulations

Required Experience:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection (preferred) or equivalent trade experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in fire stopping or fire door maintenance
  • In-depth knowledge of current fire safety legislation and industry best practices
  • A valid CSCS card and a full UK driving licence
  • A methodical approach to work with a keen eye for detail and compliance

Fire Door Inspectors

Established over 15 years, Abbey Fire & Security is the leading accredited fire protection provider for many businesses and organisations all over East Anglia. Due to continued growth, our specialist division, Abbey Fire Doors, has an opportunity available for a qualified Fire Door Inspector to join our expanding team and play a pivotal role in our commitment to life safety.

About the Role:

Operating across East Anglia within the healthcare, education, and commercial sectors, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting rigorous, non-destructive inspections of fire door sets. You will utilise your technical expertise to identify non-compliance and provide our clients with the clarity they need to maintain safe premises. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives on accuracy and high-quality reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting comprehensive inspections of timber and metal fire door sets in accordance with current British Standards and building regulations
  • Assessing frames, leaves, glazing, intumescent seals, and essential ironmongery for defects or non-compliance
  • Producing detailed, high-quality inspection reports and schedules of work using our digital handheld technology
  • Identifying and documenting required remedial actions to bring door sets up to a compliant standard
  • Liaising with site managers and clients to explain findings and ensure a smooth inspection process

Required Experience:

  • Recognised fire door inspection qualification (e.g., FDIS, BRE, or BM TRADA)
  • Proven experience in the fire door industry, either in an inspection or high-level maintenance capacity
  • Strong understanding of Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and relevant building codes
  • A proactive, professional manner with a commitment to technical integrity
  • Full UK driving licence
